Baby Present

I have a good friend in the UK expecting her first baby about 3 weeks before me and I wanted to send her a gift ready for the baby's arrival.

After doing much searching for ideas/inspiriation and then material (with the limited options available to me in Windhoek) I decided on a Baby Blanket and used the great tutorial on the Everyday Mom blog for the Self-Binding Recieving Blanket. I used 1 piece of flannel 112cm x 92cm and 1 piece of printed cotton 86cm x 66cm, I am really pleased with how it turned out.

With the extra material I had left over I made a couple of burp cloths, I used a burp cloth that my Grandma sent me as part of a set for the template to get the size and kept it simple. 1 piece of the flannel, 1 piece of the cotton and in the middle a piece of towelling nappy to make them super absorbent. Here is how they turned out;

I sewed a piece of rag material together in a loop to tie the blanket and burp cloths together to finish it off nicely and tied a gift tag on with ribbon.

So there we have it, my first handmade gift for Baby Baker and my first blog...now onto the next one!!
